Contestant entry call in is the week before the rodeo typically on Wednesday and Thursday.

The rodeo season runs from August 1 to July 31 of the next year.

Upcoming Events

MSU Spartan Stampede IPRA Rodeo February 19-21, 2010. Contact Dan Ritter to sign up to help at information booth. Friday night table will be set up at 5:00 pm. Rodeo times are 8:00 pm Friday, 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm Saturday, 2:00 pm Sunday. NLBRA of MI raffle tickets will be sold.

Michigan Horse Council International Stallion Expo and Trade Show at MSU Pavilion, East Lansing, Michigan from March 12-14, 2010. NLBRA of MI will have an information booth and volunteers will be needed to work in two hour shifts. Expo hours are Friday 10:100 am to 9:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 7:30 pm, and Sunday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Contact Virginia Breese 260-495-2493 to schedule booth time. Raffle tickets will be sold at booth and throughout expo crowd. Friday 7:00 pm is the Michigan HIgh School Association Rodeo. Raffle ticket drawing will be on March 14, 2010.

Blue Ridge Stock Farm has a huge Memorial Day Weekend celebration and an even bigger Labor Day Weekend celebration. Join in the fun with a Horseback Scavenger Hunt on Friday night, 6:00 pm. Saturday includes a seven class Fun Show and a chili cook-off. Sunday has another Fun Show, Steer Drag, Potluck dinner, dance and karaoke.

Team Sorting last Friday of every month or dates given at Blue Ridge Stock Farm.

Fun / Speed Shows at Blue Ridge Stock Farm once a month.

Roping practice every Thursday at 6:00 pm at Blue Ridge Stock Farm. A cattle charge of $20.00. Kids rope free with a paying adult.

Past Events

Youth calf roping clinic May 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm and May 10, 2009 at 9:30 am held at Keller's Arena, New Boston, Michigan. Entry fee is $150.00 and must be made by April 18, 2009. Contact Kevin Peck for more information at 734-231-8714.

NLBRA of MI will have an information booth and bake sale fundraiser during the Gizzard Fest in Potterville, MI on June 13, 2009. Booth set-up is at 8:30 am for a start at 9:00 am. Contestants and parents may ride in the parade which starts at 1:00 pm. Cookie donations in sets of 1, 3, or 6 are greatly appreciated and can be brought to the June 12 rodeo to pass onto Rod or Clarissa Newton. A one day raffle will be available. Any help with the booth, riding in the parade, and donating bake items is greatly appreciated.

June 20, 2009 fundraiser for Royalty Contest will be held at the Tractor Supply Company in Jackson, MI on the west side starting at 10:00 am. Hot dogs, chips, pop, and baked goods will be available for sale. Any help is greatly appreciated.

August 1, 2009 fundraiser for the Adrian rodeo in August at Moore's Horse Sale, 11771 US Highway 223, Onsted, MI. He will be having his annual BBQ and hog roast. We will have a 50/50 raffle, information booth, and bake sale. Please contact Cathy at 517-403-7372 if you are able to help bake or can donate money to buy ingredients for Cathy to bake.

September 12, 2009 Extreme Cowboy Challenge hosted by The Circle B Ranch at the Mecosta County Fairgrounds. Three divisions offered up to 50 contestants per a division with cash payback. September 19, 2009 at 9:00 am in Hanover, Michigan a barrel racing clinic taught by a professional barrel racer for NLBRA of Michigan members. $20 fee. Contact Julie Rector for more information.

September 26, 2009 Fundraiser at Tractor Supply Company in Holland, MI starting at 11:00 am until we run out of hot dogs. Hot dogs, pop, water, chips, and baked goods will be available for purchase. Please contact Sue at 616-283-9606 if you are able to bake or help at the booth.

October 10 and 11, 2009 at 3P Ranch, 9887 Fulmer Road, Millington, MI, Michigan Youth Timed Event Championships (MYTEC). Please see flyer for more information.

November 20, 2009, Friday, Silver Bells in the City fundraiser downtown Lansing, Michigan. Event runs from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. DRESS for the WEATHER!!!! Meet the wagon company and other NLBRA of MI members between 4:00 pm and 4:15 pm on Museum Drive behind RE Olds Museum and Impression 5 Science Center. Follow link to see map of area. From there, they will transport everyone to Washington Square to help load and unload wagons. Even if you can't make it for the start, you can meet the group in Washington Square. After the event is over, the draft horse club that brings in the hitches buys pizza at Tony M's (3420 S Creyts Road, Lansing) for all NLBRA of MI that have come to help. Credit will be given towards member financial obligation to those that help.

November 27, 2009, Friday, bake sale fundraiser during the huge horse auction and tack sale at the Livestock Barn and Antique & Miscellaneous Building in Shipshewana, Indiana. Heather Brady is heading up the bake sale as a fundraiser for the NLBRA of MI rodeo fund. Anyone that may be coming to Silver Bells that would like to bake something to sell, bring it with you and Virginia Breese will get it to Heather. If anyone would like to help with the bake sale on November 27th, you will be more than welcome. All help is greatly appreciated. You may contact Heather at 260-495-9179 if you can help either by baking or at the sale. Credit will be given towards the member financial obligation to those that help.

Reindeer Ranch will be hosting the Blitzen Bash fundraiser in Kalamazoo, Michigan. December 12 and 13, 2009 will be the fundraiser weekend for NLBRA of MI. Many activities include reindeer games, pictures with Santa and his reindeer, stories, and more. See flyer for details, fees, and directions. If you are unable to make it for the designated NLBRA of MI weekend and do go another weekend, mention the association and the funds will be put into the fundraiser pot.
